Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper

Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper - Diablo Cody I really liked this book. Maybe it's because I'm around the same age as the author was when her year of stripping took place but I can connect with her feelings of not really knowing what she wants out of life and trying to find herself. After reading some reviews I'm not sure what people were expecting. Did you not see her at the Oscars? For me the book was written as if Cody was speaking to me and I appreciate that. She holds nothing back and is fearless in her story, something I admire as sometimes when I read memoirs I feel as if the author is trying not to offend anyone but Cody just tells it like it is. I enjoyed reading about the inner workings of dancing, I had no idea about payouts or anything of that sort. Also, being from the north it was fun to read her descriptions of other northerners and the MN weather. Accurate.
